Blue Mountain Gunsmithing Policy & FAQ
Estimates & Job Cost
Estimate does not mean final price. We will do our best to give the most accurate assessment of job cost when the firearm comes into the shop, however there are times we do not know what we are working with until the firearm is disassembled. We can not give an estimate of a job over the phone.
Our minimum shop fee is $45.00 unless otherwise listed in the gunsmithing rates. Certain jobs have already set pricing. (Example: Mount & Boresight jobs are $65.00 + tax.)
GST is charged on Gunsmithing Jobs, GST & PST are charged on parts and accessories.
You can view our gunsmithing rates here.
Time Frame of Job Completion
Gunsmithing job completion time frames are based off multiple factors including how many other jobs come before yours, complexity of job, if parts are required and need to be ordered. (Shipping times on parts are out of our control. US orders can take several weeks to arrive.)
If you need your firearm to be pushed to the front of the job board, there will be a $90 rush fee charged on top of the cost of the job.
Delinquent Accounts
Starting January 1, 2023, the following conditions will apply to completed gunsmithing jobs. This policy applies to ALL gunsmithing jobs that are currently in the shop, both completed and in the repair que.
After completion of a job, you will receive a phone call and/or email (your preference) that your job is complete. If jobs are not paid for and picked up within 30 days of completion, they will accrue $5.00/day fee to cover the cost of storage and insurance.
After 90 days of no payment your firearm will be subject to sale for the cost of the job plus any storage fees accrued during that time.
We will make up to 3 attempts to contact you over a 90 day period prior to the potential of your firearm being sold to recoup the cost of our time and expenses that have gone into your job(s). It is the customers responsibility to return phone calls or emails pertaining to your firearm.
If you have made prior arrangements with us in regards to your gunsmithing job regarding payment and pick up times and stay in contact the above will not apply. If you have found yourself in the position to not be able to pay for a job in full right away, please contact us to make payment arrangements that will work for both parties.
It is your responsibility to keep us updated on any changes to your contact information including phone numbers and email address's.
Possession & Acquisition License Required (PAL)
By law we are required to see a valid Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) to release any non-restricted and restricted firearms from the gunsmithing shop.
Please Note: Restricted Firearms must be accompanied with a Valid Restricted Possession and Acquisition License (RPAL) and Registration at time of drop off at the gunsmithing shop. When picked up after repairs RPAL must be present and restricted firearms will only be released to the registered owner, unless arrangements have been made for a Short-Term Transport Permit in another person’s name by the owner.
Based on recent changes to the regulations on transporting restricted firearms, a Short-Transport Permit is required to transfer your restricted firearms to a gunsmith.
